Frequently Asked Questions
Can I customise the floor beds?
Yes, as each bed is hand made we can customise any feature of the floor bed for a small fee of £30.
How many cm is the gap between the vertical rails of the floor bed?
The gap between the rails is around 7cm, but it varies slightly depending on the bed’s size.
If you'd like the gap between the vertical rails to be narrower or wider than 7cm we can do this for an additional fee of £30. Please bare in mind that the instruction manual is written for gaps of 7cm.
Please note that if you opt for the rounded opening, it is not possible to make the gap between this opening and the next slat narrower than 7cm.
How much weight can the beds hold?
The beds can comfortably hold up to 150kg, meaning one adult and one child can sit together on the bed safely.
Do the toddler beds conform to British Standards?
The joinery workshop who craft the beds are based in the EU and therefore the beds are currently based on EU standards. We are actively working with the team there to adapt the design for Roomix to align with the UK standards. In the mean time if their are any spec you would like to change please reach out to us.
How does my bed come and in how many parts?
Each bed arrived disassembled with some clear instructions and all the parts for assembly. The number of parts depends on the size of the bed.
Can I apply the legs at a later date?
Yes you can! You'll need to purchase 4 additional legs which will cost £20. These can be added to the base of a floor bed when you're ready. If you'd like to buy some extra legs get in touch and we will add them to your order.
Can I have the bed painted in a different colour of my choosing?
Yes we are happy to paint the bed in a different colour to white emulsion. This will be an additional £48 as we will work with you to find the colour you're looking for.
Can I move the opening from the left hand side to the right?
Absolutely! We can make this adjustment free of charge. Get in touch with us when you have placed your order and we will let the workshop know to put the door on the other side.
What are the internal and external dimensions on the beds?
The internal dimensions are the sizes that we have listed above and these relate to standard mattress sizes. To get the external dimensions on the bed you need to add 8cm all the way around. So, if the bed you like is 140cm x 70cm then the external dimensions of the bed will be 148cm x 78cm.
Get in touch if you'd like a size that is not currently listed. We can accommodate almost all changes to the size.
Is it possible to remove the front rail at a later date?
Yes this is possible but please bare in mind there will be some dowel holes that might need to be filled. Removing the front rail does not impact the structural integrity of the bed.
Can I join two beds together?
This might be possible depending on the size of bed you're interested in and the configuration. Please send over the the full details along with a basic sketch of how you'd like the beds to come together and we will double check with the workshop. Send over your sketch to hello@roomixdiy.com.
Is there a gap between the floor and the mattress for ventilation?
There is a 5cm gap between the floor and the mattress.
What size is the side opening and is this adjustable?
The opening gap is 51cm. It is possible to make this bigger or smaller. It will incur the customisation fee of £30. Just get in touch in hello@roomixdiy.com if you'd like to make this change!
What size of mattress should I buy?
The dimensions listed for the floor beds are the internal dimensions of the beds, so are the correct size for your mattress.
These beds are designed for toddler mattresses of 10-15cm in depth. If you have a 25cm mattress that you'd like to use, we recommend increasing the height of the railings by 10-15cms.

What kind of wax is used on the floor beds and is it safe for kids?
Absolutely it is safe for kids. The wax we use is a water-based bee wax manufactured in Italy and is certified EN 71-3 safe for children's toys along with other high quality standard certifications.

Super simple to put together, the bed frames In particular take little to no time to assemble. Naturally the under bed drawers take slightly longer to assemble as they are a bit more complicated than the bed frame but still super easy. You can see the quality of the timber and finish from the moment you open the box.

lovely looking bed, we ordered single and doble with drawers. the double bed dowers have wrong instructions so had to be be put apart and rebuild which is a shame considering the price of the full set. both beds even though are fully tightened are very squeaky. I'm co sleeping so this is affecting my sleep comfort hence 4 stars and again I expected better considering the price of it. Visually the bed is beautiful.
Beautiful bed, my son loves it, and so do I. We ordered one single with drawers and a double with drawers. Both super creaky that’s why minutes the star. Is there anyway of improving this / fixing this problem? It’s all tighten up so no way our assembly impacted this

The mattress is great quality and a perfect fit for my infant's bed. It's also nice and firm and doesn't sink around my infants weight or while I lie alongside him and settle him to sleep.
Bed looks good however once assembled really quite creaky. Does the job, child seems happy on it and easy to settle them down in it. Just wish it wasn’t so creaky.
Roomix Transition Toddler Bed White
Store owner replied: I'm so sorry to hear this! As a result of this feedback, we have raised this with our designer and workshop who have reviewed this thoroughly. They have identified that if the front mattress barrier support rail was not tightened very thoroughly, there could be some movement in this rail when in use and therefore cause a slight noise. We have since ensured that all of our mattress rails are both glued and screwed in the workshop - however, we recommend customers who assembled this component themselves to tighten their mattress rails when creaking occurs.
Mattress ok for comfort however springs make popping sounds. Wakes up child sometimes
Amazing customer service amazing product would buy from them again
Advertised delivery date on the website was incorrect and we have not received any communication until we queried this when delivery didn’t arrive. Luckily, after couple of emails this issue was swiftly sorted by the customer service team and we received bed with slight delay. Bed looks nice and sturdy. Bit creaky though? Not sure if that’s expected and will stop after some use? Also, we ordered natural bed and after unpacking we realised we received white one! It was too late to make a complaint or send it back, so we stuck with it. It’s still nice, but we would preferred to get what we ordered. Leaving only 3 stars due to the above issues.
Lovely bed for my toddler. He can get in and out as he likes without me worrying about him falling out. It’s also big enough for me to get in.
Perfect
This is generally a nice bed, but the add-on drawers are a nightmare and there is a translation or language error in step 1 of putting the drawers together. If you follow these instructions, you WILL end up mounting the carcass incorrectly and have to un-do it later on. Shame as the bed itself and the legs are well made, thought out, and easy to construct, but the drawers feel like a somewhat decently made piece of Chinese factory add on.
I have assembled a lot of flat pack furniture and this was by far the most confusing item I've had to assemble. The instructions referred to numbered pieced but it wasn't clear which piece was which. It was only through trial and error that I worked it out. Also the video on the website showed a different order of assembly to the printed manual. Please improve your instruction manual and make a video which shows the same order of assembly!
Had it constructed by a professional carpenter who was working in our house at the time. Aesthetically looks great but the side with the entry gap is not very robust. The dowels over time have loosened and now the side is very wobbly with no hope of fixing it really. Wouldn’t purchase again sadly.
What Started as a Disappointing Experience Ended on a Much Better Note Our experience with Roomix got off to a very disappointing start. The delivery of our bed was delayed, communication was poor, and we struggled to get clear, consistent information about our order. Part of the bed arrived without any indication of when the remaining parts would be delivered, and initially there were no instructions included. It was also very difficult to speak to anyone directly, which made the whole situation even more frustrating. This was particularly upsetting because we had been trying to make moving our daughter into her “big girl” room a fun and exciting experience, and the uncertainty took away from that. Following my concerns, one of the owners personally contacted me to discuss what had happened. I really appreciated the call, the time they took to listen, and the genuine effort they made to resolve the situation. That level of customer care was excellent and made a real difference. Now that everything has arrived, I have to say the product itself is fantastic. Our daughter absolutely loves her new bed and transitioned into it with no issues at all. The bed was easier to assemble than expected, the instructions were clear, and it feels sturdy and well made. Time will tell on its long-term durability, but so far we couldn’t be happier with the product. Overall, Roomix has an excellent product, but in my experience their communication and order updates need significant improvement. If they can bring their customer service up to the same standard as the quality of their beds, they would have a truly outstanding business.

I don’t find the legs easy to assemble and I’m ferried something went awry and one of the drawers doesn’t seem to be ok
Good bed for my toddler and for us to nip into if she needs a cuddle. I have walked or bashed into it in the darkness and hope the wood is strong enough to withstand the whacks otherwise good product.

The mattress itself is great and of good quality and it arrived promptly. However it wasn’t until we opened it (which was delayed due to the bed being delayed) that we realised we had been sent the incorrect size and so did not fit the bed. This spoilt the event of my son transitioning into a new bed. Although customer service were prompt and helpful, we then had to wait while a new mattress was dispatched. To add to this, we were expected to package the incorrect mattress for collection, without any appropriate packaging, all without any offer of compensation for the inconvenience and unrealistic expectation of repackaging a mattress which was out of our control.
My son, 2 years old, and I were co sleeping. A lot of people told me that is going to be hard to get him to sleep in his own bed. From the first night that we used the Roomix floor bed he was excited, calling it his big bed, and slept on his own since then. I am really pleased.
I was really struggling to find a floor bed until I found Roomix. The bed is excellent quality and was really easy to put together. My toddler loves her new bed. It does take a long time to ship, but they’re really good at sending emails so you know where you’re at in the process.
It’s perfect and my little one is so excited!
Order completely wrong
We are so happy with our purchase. Our 9 month old already loves his new bed. We never had regular crib, I didn’t like the idea of so many purchases and opted for this bed which would grow with him. We also got a small double bed in which both my husband and I have slept with our son several times. The only issue we had was the difficulty in putting the bed together. The bed itself isn’t hard to fix but it was never numbered so we had to figure out and match the pieces to the guidelines. Overall an excellent purchase and would recommend any parents to ditch the regular crib and purchase this lovely bed once.

Love the look and functionality of the draws but as I have mentioned with the bed, the product is extremely squeaky. Any weight on the bed creates a lot of noise, even after waxing all of the surfaces.
Love the look of the bed and it feels solid. The reason for the mid range review is that it is extremely creaky! I have checked all screws are tight, I have waxed everything I can. This has improved the noise but I would definitely not be able to lie with my daughter while she goes to sleep and then get up to leave, the noise would wake her up.
Appears to be nicely made though would have been easier to assemble if the parts were numbered to aid identification. All in all a nice product and the contrast between natural wood and painted sections really improved the look.
Was a bit tough to assemble. We are glad that we made it, and we do like the extra storage space.
Comfy so far
My little one likes it. But since the delivery was outsourced to a third party, they could not help to move the parts to the baby room. Was difficult to move it up stairs due to sizes and weight with the packaging.
